At the Inventorium, we aim to bridge the gap between disengagement and employability, providing students with a personalised education that helps them succeed in the future they aspire to.
We believe in transforming the way education is delivered and address the root causes of student disengagement. Our team of experts from academia, teaching and corporate fields have come together to create a solution that addresses the major issues causing students to drop out of school, such as a lack of relevance in the curriculum and difficulty in connecting with teachers.
Our approach was to design a self-paced curriculum that would allow students to focus on what interests them and have one teacher who can provide a holistic overview of their progress. In response to the pressing need for qualfications, our curriculum is mapped to and results for SACE.
We recognised that traditional schools, with their set schedules and multiple teachers, could not deliver the type of education students need. So we made the decision to take our solution online, making it accessible and scalable for students everywhere - and make no mistake, the teacher is the most important element for the student's learning.
Our teachers help the students find relevance and meaning in the curriculum for their context and circumstances, so they can apply the learning to their lives and build awareness of their progress on a chosen pathway. We work at the students pace, applying the curriculum to the students context, to achieve the outcomes the students are motivated to achieve, and support this through a one to one teacher: student facilitation. In short, there is no reason for students to drop out and so they don't! We have a 95% retention and completion rate which is higher than most traditional schools!
This model is based on the work of Guy Claxton et al (2010) Bodies of Knowledge in which they introduced the 4-6-1 model. All Inventorium activities are formulated to develop the skills that underping the habits of mind.
Inventorium Education
Inventorium acknowledges that underneath our feet is a land criss-crossed with the lines of a map that has existed for thousands of years. Our staff live and work on the land of the Kaurna, Ramindjeri, and Ngarrindjeri people in the South, and the Dharug and Eora peoples in the East. We honour and extend respect to the indigenous members of our community, and recognise their connection with Country, and we are grateful to be able to share this country with Australians from all nations.
